Pavel Macek       WOODCUTS and TWISTOSCOPES

I was born a long time ago in Prague and have lived mostly in France during the last 35 years. In 1986 I was awarded the prize « Jean Chièze » in Paris for my woodcuts.

I use the woodcut technique called « lost wood », which means I use the same block of wood for all the colours.

The engravings can be of 3 to 11 colours and I usually print 7 to 9 copies.

Ten years ago I started to build boxes which enclose scenes set in motion by the onlooker.
